Revelation 17-18 The End of Babylon (Jan 27 2013)

Babylon. The name represents domination and power and wealth. Babylon in John's vision is this, and more. Symbolic of the wordly accumulation of wealth and status on the back of oppression and military power (representing Rome in the first century AD), 'Babylon' seduces many to her cause in opposition to God. But in the end she will not stand, for Jesus Christ has formed his followers into a new city, the city of God. We are citizens of this city even as we resist the seductions of social and political structures which set themselves up against God.
