Jesus walks on the sea and comes to his disciples saying, "Be courageous. I Am. Don't be afraid. Two commands bracket the supreme reality of Jesus' identity as the Divine, saving presence of the Old Testament. Only, he doesn't hide himself but expresses the very being of God in physical form. Yet, the disciples do not understand who he is, which is the crisis that prompts Jesus to pray.
