The promised land in the Bible isn't just turf and topography but a pointer to the great blessings of God for his people. These blessings are only partial in the old, fulfilled in Christ, and perfected in heaven. The New Testament speaks of the Christian being in the wilderness as we travel towards the heavenly city. So Why don't we want to enter in? Our preoccupation with the world keeps us from appreciating and striving for the heavenly country as we journey with Christ.
