Jonah 3 A Mighty Cry (September 7 2008)

What can we learn from Nineveh's repentance? They knew five things: they had sinned against God, the greatness of their sin, the consequences of their sin, they had a limited time to respond, and they acted. Everything changed. Their response to g was not flimsy. It is fascinating, therefore, how reluctant Israel was to respond to God, at whose hand they had been formed as nation, given spiritual revelation and privilege over generations. If a Gentile city repented with this immediacy, why not those who were in covenant relationship with God?
