What is Holy Communion (or, the Lord's Supper)? It is a sacrament, which means it is a visual and external sign of an invisible and spiritual reality. Not only is it a sign, we participate in it by eating and drinking the body and blood of Christ. As we reach out with the hand of faith to grasp the hand of Grace, the sacrament becomes effective to communicate the benefits of Christ's death. In Holy Communion, we Remember Christ's death, we Receive publicly the benefits of his death, and we Belong, to Christ, and to one another.
