Latest sermon:
The foundational commandment is the one that strikes at the heart of human self-centerdness. No other gods implies that God's covenant partners must give Him their allegiance and loyalty, forsaking all others. The negative expression of the command is to turn away from the 'avatar gods' of our imaginations and lusts. The positive fulfillment is to love the LORD our God with all our heart, mind, and strength. We can only do this by grace as God chnages our affections. He points us to Jesus as the author and perfector of our faith, God in human form.
