Paul doesn't tell us to manufacture unity but to maintain it. The victorious, resurrected Christ gives gifts of people, in this case people with word gifts, to the church. Through these people gifts the saints are equipped for diverse kinds of ministry, and collectively� the body is built in maturity and stability.
