When Peter preached the first Christian sermon, it was never a question whether Jesus was resurrected. But why was he raised from the dead? Two reasons come out of Peter's sermon: God promised a descendant for David who would not see corruption, and Jesus, the eternal king, destroyed the power of death, and is supreme over every enemy.
