1 Corinthians 6

The Church in Corinth demanded their rights and their freedoms: the right to take people within the church to court, and the freedom to use their bodies in any way they wished. This was their "charter." But Paul exposes their childishness, and challenges them to live a life in alignment with who they already are because of what God has done for them in Jesus Christ. The culture and values in Corinth are not so different from those of modern day Western Canada. We live in an era where 'rights' and 'freedoms' are enshrined in the heart and in law, so it is counter-cultural to lay down those rights as Jesus did on the cross. Our lives as kingdom people depend on Jesus who has been wronged himself.
