Paul reminds the Corinthian church what it was that brought them to faith in Christ: was it the power of the message, or the messenger, or the method? Not at all: each of these were, in the eyes of the world, weak and apparently ineffective. But Paul makes the point that God's power works through weakness, as illustrated most paradoxically and profoundly at the cross.
