Our SJR Sermon Series in Winter 2025 is The Book of Daniel. The series begins January 11th, and concludes the week before Easter. Daniel is divided almost equally between narrative and apocalyptic. In both genres, God's sovereign control of history is displayed on earth even in the power plays of kings and kingdoms, and in the cosmos, over the principalities and powers. For the Bible Study Guide, we will use the Gospel Coalition resource linked above, as well as a simpler condensed form with the questions from Alan Stibbs.
Daniel, written in about the sixth century before Christ, is amazingly relevant today for the church. We live in a world where God's rule is foolishly ignored or rebelled against, both in personal and political spheres. But in Daniel, we see a model of faith in the living God lived out in hostile environments. We also see the future judgment and deliverance by the Messiah. We pray you will find this series immensely encouraging!
