The first vision given to John is the risen Christ, in full HD, the only physical picture we have of Jesus, although in symbolic terms. He is the divine king and judge, and he stands in the midst of the churches he is assembling; protecting, and nourishing them. We need this image of Jesus, powerful and active right now, especially as we expereince suffering that comes with life in this age.
