The human heart is religious. The problem is not that we are unreligious, but that without Christ we will grasp at any tradition, belief, or exercise and create a human religion out of it. Why did Jesus come? To rescue us, in part, from human religious tradition, exemplified by the Pharisees and teachers of the law. The end result of human religion is that God's written word is nullified, and that our hearts are far from God.
