Events at St. John's Church in Richmond
Catechesis is an education in the faith which includes the teaching of Christian doctrine (major Bible themes) with the purpose of helping hearers understand Christianity correctly and experience the fullness of Christian life.
In a re-creation of Jesus’ final Passover meal as we shared an immersive realistic Jewish Seder Supper complete with lamb and all the ceremonial food. In addition we offered an explanation of the Jewish Seder and how Jesus transforms and fulfils it.
We give thanks for the presence and ministry of the Roberts’ family for the past 7 years. Ben was our Associate Minister. Blessings to Ben+Karyn, Addie, Ambrose, and Olive!
Fifteen adults and children from SJR conducted training and encouraged Emmanuel Church in Vancouver on July 29th, 2018. Emmanuel is a sister parish in ANiC, and asked for our help in revamping their children’s ministry program. The training was instructive and inspiring: we joined them for worship and demonstrate a full children’s ministry teaching time to the whole community. Please pray that God will continue to bless and multiply ministry (especially to children) in both parishes.
Most people say the Bible is full of weird ideas, improbable miracles, and bloodthirsty practices. But hardly anyone actually reads it, and fewer understand it.
Twice a year, St. John's Church in Richmond worships by starting with a full breakfast. We sit in round tables, help ourselves to the home cooked sausages, scrambled eggs, baked goods, fruit, and home roasted coffee! After breakfast, we stay at our round tables and go through the usual worship liturgy. It's a great time to invite a friend or to check us out. Join us!
